The National Track & Field Professional Athletes Union (NTFPAU) is a national union representing the Professional designated athletes with no high school or college eligibility who are independent performance-based workers under contract as members with USA Track & Field, Inc. "USATF" the national governing body.
NTFPAU's scope of representation covers professional designated athletes with no high school or college eligibility who is independent performance-based workers under contract as members with USA Track & Field, Inc. "USATF" the national governing body.
NTFPAU's membership includes an array of talent - Track & Field, Cross-Country and Distant Runners. NTFPAU members perform at USA Track & Field, Inc., sanctioned meets and provide a high level of skill and performance for meet attendees at two venues, domestic and international track & field meets.
Contract Negoitation and Enforcement
The union negotiates and enforces collective bargaining agreements that guarantee minimum (but never maximum) salaries, safe working conditions on the track field and health and retirement benefits.
When the union is unable to resolve disputes with USA Track & Field, Inc., both parties will enter binding arbitration. The cost of the proceeding is paid by the union.
Advocacy
NTFPAU advocates legislative and public policy issues that directly effect our members wages and working conditions. This includes lobbying and support for such issues as professional performance rights issues, "non-compete" restrictions, OSHA and local safety regulations and more.
Member Benefits
NTFPAU supports the welfare of its members through benefits and programs sponsored or supported by the union and collaborative partners. NTFPAU is the first industry union to establish employer-paid health and retirement plans for members and their dependents that qualify. The Health Fund provides comprehensive medical and hospital benefits, a dental plan, prescription drug program and mental health and substance abuse programs.
The Retirement Fund is portable, allowing members to work under any NTFPAU contract-employer contributions are made on their behalf.

NTFPAU membership also provides access to a series of supplemental benefits, discounts and other programs.
The NTFPAU Foundaton is a separate tax-exempt organization funded entirely by voluntary contributions is designed to benefit members and support the educational and charitable objectives.Scholarships are available to NTFPAU members and dependents.
Governance and Administration
NTFPAU was chartered and is governed by its members. Each of the associations around the country elects its own board of directors; in addition, to electing representing to the national board of directors. The local associations and national boards set the direction of the organization and establishes its policies on the local associations and national levels respectively. NTFPAU also holds a national convention every three years, and delegates are directly elected on a proportional basis from each local association to represent to membership at the convention. All board members and officers-both local and national serve without pay. Policies and programs developed by the elected members are implemented and administered by salaried staff at the national and local level.
NTFPAU's national president is Texas former Olympian Rick W. Alexander-Milteer. The senior administrator and labor relations professional is National Executive Director Rick W. Alexander-Milteer.
Other Initiatives
NTFPAU actively supports equal employment opportunities for minorities and women, and its contracts calls for diversity and fairness in hiring practices. NTFPAU also protects its members from sport agents who represent track & field athletes.
NTFPAU local offices offers a wide variety of special programs tailored to the professional needs of our members. The programs range from media promotions, publications, casting and seminars which assist members in professional development.
